The Office Inspired Engagement Session at Niagara Falls

If you are a The Office fan, then you know about Jim and Pam’s elopement on the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls, New York.  For Derek and Ally’s engagement session – they wanted to recreate that moment since they are HUGE fans of The Office which I bring you, The Office Inspired Engagement Session. 

Derek and Ally met when she was hired as an office manager where Derek worked part time. On Ally’s very first day she convinced Derek to let her braid his beard for a baseball game that he had later that evening. Very quickly they became best friends and spent a lot of their time together working out or going on drives to nowhere just so they could blast Backstreet Boys with the windows down. 

Ally used the John Green quote “I fell in love the way you fall asleep; slowly, and then all at once” to describe her and Derek’s relationship. Derek and Ally instantly had a connection, but Ally was not too convinced even though Derek always knew that they were meant to be together. After 6 months to a year Ally was finally convinced on Derek and they made things official even though deep down she feels as if a part of herself knew she had always loved him. 

Derek and Ally are consistent in nothing going as planned, including our session when Derek fell and cut his face open. Derek’s proposal to Ally was no different, nothing went as planned. They had planned their first vacation together to Jamaica but unfortunately the trip had to be canceled. Derek and Ally used their flight credits and booked a trip to Park City, Utah over Valentines week. Ally said “our entire trip was a comedy of errors and the poor guy was walking around with the ring the entire time with every single plan he made to propose just epically failing for him”. Finally on their last day in Utah after getting back to the Airbnb and Ally so desperately wanting to put on her sweatpants Derek yelled at her to stop what she was doing and said “I’ve been trying to ask you something all week and it hasn’t been working out”. Ally was so freaked out by the abruptness of his question she ended up tackling him and blurted out “of course I’ll marry you, you stupid f***ing idiot”. Ally says that this proposal could not have been anymore on brand for them and the week of failing Derek went through trying to propose. If their relationship were to be a movie Derek and Ally joke that it would be called 15 degrees off perfect, which describes perfectly how the proposal went as well as him tripping and falling on his face in Niagara Falls right before having photos taken. 

Derek and Ally are going to ring in the New Year together by tying the knot on December 31st.
